Hawkwind
"Take Me to Your Future" (2007)
[Voiceprint]
This is the latest official release from Hawkwind, following on from ‘Take Me To Your Leader’. What we have here is a collection of pieces that are soon to be available elsewhere, along with some which will only be available on this dual sided disc. So if you are a fan you have to get this even though most of the material will also be available elsewhere. Nice. There are five audio tracks on one side, and seven video on the other. Even though I think that in many ways this is an unfair release no one can doubt the care that has gone into the booklet which is very well presented indeed. Of the five audio there is a reworking on “Uncle Sam On Mars” which featured on the last album, plus “The Reality Of Poverty” which not only involves ex-Hawkwind member Simon House on violin but also Arthur Brown on vocals. Of most interest to the Hawkfan will be the two songs from the Brock Calvert Project where Dave has put music to some of Robert’s recitals – they actually work quite well. Then to finish there is a new remix of “Silver Machine” which retains the Lemmy vocals and does sound different enough. The video side contains material from four DVDs available elsewhere, but also some that is only available here. I still think that it is a bit of a cash in, but overall it is an interesting release.
